Bad People, Good People?

While in North-East, I had this experience shared by one of our Karyakarta.
Name is not given, but the facts are true.

The school construction is going on. RCC building costing almost Rs 40 Lakhs.
The area is infested with terrorists, separatists, anti-nationals.
Two of the workers of these forces knocked the door of our Karyakarta.
As is usual, door was opened to them, tambul was given and then asked who were they.
They informed they belong to a group which is known for terrorising activities in the area.
Ok. How did you come here?
We have seen you constructing a building and you have not given any share for it to us. You should know, for every thing constructed in this area, 20% of the cost of building should be given to us.
I am not aware of this.
Then, we are making you aware of this.
Our Karyakarta then asked him what they were knowing about the building and the purpose of that building.
They said they were not aware about it.
Then listen. He then gave them brief about the Vivekananda Kendra - an organisation with Man Making and Nation Building Mission - a service oriented spiritual organisation. He also gave different brochures of Vivekananda Kendra  and made them understand  the  activities  of VK in different fields.

He told them about the Vidyalayas in Assam and how this building is coming up for the their children in this area. Knowing well that here people are poor, Kendra is getting donations from other places so that good education can be provided for the children. He told them how people contribute for the Kendra work and he urged them that they too should contribute for the earlier completion of the buildings.
They listened to all what he was telling, had a cup of tea and said, sorry, we were not knowing all this. We shall definitely help you in whatever way possible.
You can come to us at any time, but in office, not at home. We shall give you all the needed information.
We know, you also are interested in the future of your children and shall  definitely give us your helping hand.

I was just amazed with the courage he had and remembered…. bhavatu vihat vighna...he turned obstacles into opportunities.

This is one school where parents come not to inquire about their child's studies but to see and inquire about the welfare of the teachers. They take extra efforts to see that teachers are safe and comfortable esp. when there are prolonged bands in the area.

Pray, you all would take it a mission to help this school by contributing your mite as it needs additional 20 Lakhs to compete the work.
